THE STORY

A leading supplier to the patient support surface market was looking to expand their market with new products including expanded functionality and electronic controls. Pergamon teamed with the customer’s internal engineering group and an outside industrial design firm to develop two new product lines.

Pergamon designed the electronics including a battery-powered remote control based on IEEE 802.15.4, developed the firmware, built prototypes, and shepherded the product through the regulatory testing approval process including both AAMI 60601-1 and associated EMC testing for the 2.4GHz spread-spectrum radio.

With Pergamon in charge of the electronics, firmware, regulatory approvals, and manufacturing, the customer was able to focus their core expertise in materials and surfaces. This allowed them to develop a novel technology which secures their leadership position in the market by improving the state of the art for patient care.
